Uzeyir Hajibeyov composed the music of the state anthem of Azerbaijan. This melody became a musical symbol of independence and sounds at all the country's main events.
He also wrote music for the anthem of the Azerbaijan SSR — his hand defined the sound of an era.

Today the Baku Music Academy bears the name of Uzeyir Hajibeyov — a sign that the whole school grew out of him.
